Two Montana Towns Make Top 100 For Best Places For Summer Jobs
Growing up, one of the things that I looked forward to the most was summer. It was a chance to get away from the classroom, sleep in, hang out with my friends, and watch Bob Barker on The Price Is Right.
Once, I got into my teenage years, it was also the opportunity to make a little money.
My first summer job was mowing yards. I'm not sure what the going rate is nowadays, but when I was a kid, it was 10 bucks per yard. Once I got a little older and had my own transportation, I would work at the State Fair each summer slinging ice cream cones. Ahhh the good ole days.
With summer just around the corner, many young Montanans will have the chance to get a summer job. Although it has been said that many of our youth don't have the work ethic of years past, to me, a summer job meant freedom. Freedom to make some money and spend it however I wanted.
What does the summer job situation look like in Montana?
Our friends at WalletHub came out with a list of the best places to get a summer job and two Montana towns landed on the Top 100.
Both Billings and Missoula made the list with Missoula coming in at 58th and Billings coming in at 74th.
Of course, Billings and Missoula are the biggest cities in the state, so it would make sense that both towns would represent Montana, however, that doesn't mean that there aren't jobs to be had in other areas of The Treasure State.
Millions of tourists will visit Montana over the next few months and that means that many local businesses will be looking to hire seasonal help. It's a great chance to earn some extra money no matter how old you are.
