Depending on who you listen to the Montana real estate market is either heading for a crash (great news for buyers) or is holding steady (great news for sellers).

Over the last few years, real estate in The Treasure State has been a hot topic. We've watched as the prices of houses, townhomes, and condos have skyrocketed to prices that the average Montanan can't afford. For those of us hoping that the market will correct itself, it's been a long wait...and we're still waiting.

So how is the Montana real estate market? At one point, houses were selling like crazy, especially in places like Bozeman, but what about now? Where's the hot spot in Montana?

Which Montana towns made the list of Best Real Estate Markets?

Was it Bozeman? Missoula? How about Kalispell or Great Falls? None of those Montana towns made the list, in fact, no Montana towns made the list for 2024, which could be a bit of a shock to many locals as well as good news for those who are tired of all the transplants.

Where are people moving to?

According to the figures, Texas is a popular place. The Lone Star State landed 4 entries into the Top 10. As someone who has lived in Texas, I understand the appeal as there's no state tax, homes are cheap compared to Montana prices, winters are mild, and the roads are well maintained.

However, it's hot, and well...full of Texans.

So could these figures mean we could see the beginning of a change here in Montana? Is it possible that the home prices will continue to fall, giving the average Montanan a better chance to become a homeowner?

One can only hope, and I'm hoping.
