Montana Shoppers: Popular Snack Recalled Over Peanut Allergy Risk
Heads Up, Snack Lovers: This Popular Treat Is Under Nationwide Recall
Your favorite snack might be on the recall list, and if you or anyone in your house has a peanut allergy, this one could be bad news bears. We're talking about those grab-and-go RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches.
Mondelēz Global LLC, the makers of RITZ, just announced a voluntary nationwide recall on four different carton sizes of their RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches including...
8-pack
20-pack
40-pack
20-pack Variety Pack cartons.
These snacks are sold everywhere, including right here in Montana. So if you've picked up a box recently, you're going to want to check those labels.
Here's the issue: some of the individual packs inside the cartons may be mislabeled as the cheese variety, but actually contain peanut butter. While the outer carton is labeled correctly and clearly states it contains peanuts, someone with a peanut allergy grabbing an individual pack could be in for a serious scare.
The FDA says there have been no reports of illness so far, but they're urging anyone with peanut allergies to not open or eat the recalled products.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product." - FDA
To check if your box is affected, look for the Best When Used By dates, UPCs, and plant codes listed in the official recall (found on Mondelēz's website or by calling 1-844-366-1171).

If it turns out you have a recalled box and someone in your household has a peanut allergy—toss it, don't risk it. Otherwise, snack on!
