First, let's take a look at the good news. Montana is not the most expensive place to live in the United States. That honor goes to Massachusetts followed by California. According to their research, to live comfortably in those states, as a single person you would need to make over 50 dollars an hour.

How much do you need to make to be comfortable in Montana?

Several states rank head of The Treasure State, which ranks 34th out of 50 on the list. According to the data, to live comfortably here in Montana, you need to make just over 78 thousand dollars a year. To break that down to an hourly wage, we're talking about making 37.65 an hour.

While some Montanans might make that much, the majority don't. I mean, almost 40 bucks an hour? Jobs like that are hard to come by.
