It's one of the most important questions that you can ask this time of year.

All over Montana, folks are putting up Christmas decorations, people are singing their favorite Christmas songs, and folks are shopping for all of the ingredients to make their favorite holiday treats. It really is the most wonderful time of year, but as mentioned, there is something that we need to ask, and your honesty is required.

According to my wife, my "love language" is gifts. I don't know about all of that, but I do love gifts. I love giving them, and I love getting them.

The older I become, I realize that the old saying "it's the thought that counts" really is true. I appreciate all gifts. I feel like if someone cares enough about me to take the time to give me something, well, that is the real gift in my book. However, there is the subject of regifting.

Now, I can't speak for the rest of Big Sky Country, but I'm not a regifter. In fact, other than some actual gift bags, I've never regifted a gift in my life. I think it's rude and unthoughtful; however, here in Montana, I'm in the minority.

According to the Great Christmas Debate, 70 percent of folks think it's perfectly fine to regift. What??? That's almost 3 out of 4. Where is the personal touch? The thoughtfulness? The originality? The effort?

My wife is a big regifter. In fact, she is one of the hardest people to buy for, so I just stopped buying for her. We go shopping, she picks out what she wants, and I pay for it.

Done.

I, on the other hand, enjoy reading the card, unwrapping the gift, and seeing what the person has given me. It's one of my favorite things to do. What about you? Are you pro or anti-regifting?
