Montana is home to some of the most iconic parks in the U.S.—we’ve got big names like Glacier and Yellowstone. But our neighbors to the north? O’le Canada is stepping up their park game this summer in a big way—and yes, it has a little something to do with the recent trade tension between our two countries.

It all started June 20th and goes through September 2, 2025. The Canadian government is giving away free access to all their national parks and marine conservation areas. It’s called the Canada Strong Pass, and it’s part of a $70 million initiative to boost local travel and tourism. It also cuts camping fees in half and gives kids under 18 free museum access. Pretty sweet, right?

"No registration or physical pass is necessary; just show up and enjoy the benefits offered at participating establishments. The Pass is open to all visitors, whether you are Canadian or coming from abroad. It’s an invitation to experience Canada’s cultural and natural richness." - The Department of Canadian Heritage

While this move is a major win for families looking to explore without breaking the bank, conservationists are urging balance. With places like Banff already seeing over 4 million visitors a year, the pressure on wildlife and habitats is real. Too many people = stressed-out animals.

Groups like Yellowstone to Yukon are calling for more funding to manage crowds, protect species, and add new protected areas. Because while getting more people outside is a win for mental health and awareness, the ecosystems need their space too.
