I have never been a huge Valentine's Day fan.  I used to think it can be a set up for disappointment.  Either you're alone and depressed about it, or you're with someone and the expectations of gift giving and romance are way too high.  I've decided if you feel that way about Valentine's, you're not where you are supposed to be!   I've spent some Valentine's Days alone, and used the time to go to the spa and go out with single friends.  I've never been one to sit around and feel sorry for myself.  It's just a day...a day to let the people in your life know you love them...it doesn't have to be romantic.  That being said, my husband shows romance year around by doing the dishes for me...bathing the kids, bringing home dinner when I am exhausted.  I wouldn't trade that kind of life for one day of store bought romance!  I did get some beautiful flowers and lots of cards this year.  He knows that I love cards...I don't care if they are homemade or storebought. I also got one from each of the kids.  Matthew's says that I am his first Valentine.  Talk about melting my heart!    I made sure they all had cards and treats when they woke up this morning.  To me, that is what Valentine's is about.  If Mike got me a big diamond or something I would be horrified.  I like the little gifts, plus I would rather spend that money on a family vacation.  I don't know if it's my age, or the fact that I am so happy with my life, but the "big" things just don't matter to me anymore.  It's the everyday love I have with the important people in my life.  I count my blessings that I got a box of Nerds, and some beautiful home made drawings.  I couldn't ask for more!!!  Except maybe some chocolate...
