Mommy Memos: Miley

Miley Cyrus

Today, Miley Cyrus turns 18.  My 6 year old daughter is OBSESSED with her.  I don't mind Hannah Montana, but the first time I saw this girl perform as Miley a few years ago, she was gyrating and scantilly clad and I thought, "what mother would let that happen?"  I realize that last statement makes me sound like the fuddy duddy I have become.  I remember getting dressed in High School, coming down the stairs, and my Dad saying, "try again."  Gracie's Aunt bought her the latest Miley C.D. where she is dressed in very little, tight leather.  I said, "Gracie, you would never wear anything like that, would you?"  Her answer, "yes!"  I actually think Miley Cyrus seems like a nice girl, however, she is a product of her environment and living in a very adult world.  I still have to wonder why her parents allow it.  I look at young people like Taylor Swift, and it is possible to act appropriately for your age.  I guess I will just have to use the same logic my parents used.  "I don't care what other parents let their kids do, when you live in my house you live with my rules."  Oh god, I AM turning into my parents!  By the way, I have no problem with this outfit, I was known to wear some pretty short skirts in high school!
