On May 26th, some of, 33-year-old, Nathan Moore's personal belongings were found in a bear proof storage container, but Moore was not located. The bear proof container was located at the Blackmore Campground which is next to Hyalite Reservoir. Moore was originally reported missing on May 1st.

An extensive search of the area, using search dogs, drones, and boats was conducted by the Gallatin County Sherriff’s Search and Rescue team. During the search they were not able to locate Moore.
