How To See 3 States At Once, Including Montana, Without Hiking
Let's be honest, not all of us are in shape enough to hike to the tallest point in Yellowstone National Park ecosystem, and some of us just don't have the desire to. Now, if there was a way we could get to the top without a hike, that would be ideal.
On July 4th, the new Lone Peak tram opened a super cool excursion to the summer schedule.
You can now take the tram to the top of Lone Mountain! Why is this such a cool feature? You can see three states all at once when you get to the top, and...you don't have to hike one step.
Once on top of Lone Mountain, you will be able to see Montana, Wyoming, AND Idaho all at the same time. In addition, you can see not one, but two National Parks. Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons.
Some helpful tips to keep in mind when booking your Lone Peak excursion:
- Tour start times between 9am and 3:50pm. If you don’t see a start time that works for you, please call us at 800-548-4486.
- This tour lasts around 1.5 hours.
- Fully enclosed shoes are required. If you do not arrive with appropriate footwear, you may be required to rent a pair of sneakers at your own expense.
- Price includes a full-day scenic lift ticket.
The view is breathtaking, but is also a view one should see for themselves. Now you can, during the summer hours. A perfect addition to your summer travel plans.

When the old tram was installed 28 years ago it was only able to hold 15 people. This new Lone Peak tram, which opened in December of last year, you can have more than 70 people in the cabin at once. That's a huge perk.
If you want to take the tram to the top of Lone Peak, you can do so from now until September 8th, Fridays through Sundays.
