When I was a kid growing up, the summer hang out with the local swimming pool.

It was a magical place where you could not only swim, but hang out with your friends, find romance, and let's be honest, parents used it as a baby sitter. Folks brought their boom boxes (it was the 80s) and we would listen to the hits of the day.  My hometown pool closed a couple of years ago, and even though I hadn't been in years, it was still sad. All those memories, all those summers and all those kids that won't get to experience what we did.

So imagine how the folks of Livingston are feeling knowing that this summer is their last at the Livingston City Pool.

Why is the Livingston City Pool closing?

According to reports, the pool is closing due to a couple of factors. One is aging and the other is continuing leakage. It should be noted the pool has been part of the community for over seven decades and saying goodbye will not be easy.

Plus, the pool isn't just a place for teenagers to hang out on a hot summer day. There are multiple classes that are offered such as water aerobics as well as swimming lessons for the kiddos.

However, the city won't be without a pool for long.
