This Rustic Outdoor Montana Venue Draws Big Names And Fans

Paradise Valley Montana is a special place.

Long before it was "discovered" by Hollywood types, and more recently became the fictional setting for the hit show Yellowstone, locals have enjoyed Paradise Valley for its beauty, fly fishing, visiting hot springs, or traveling to Yellowstone National Parks North Entrance in Gardiner, MT.

The hills are alive... with the sound of music.

With some of Montana's most stunning mountains jutting from the landscape on both sides, Paradise Valley is still home to working ranches and small Montana businesses. It's also home to one of the coolest old bars in Montana, aptly named the Old Saloon.

Established in 1902, the rustic roadside watering hole in Emigrant is not fancy, pretentious, snobby, or elitist. Its food and beverage prices are reasonable for the average Montanan, and when you belly up to the smallish bar on a weekday afternoon, you're more likely to sit next to someone in work boots, than Gucci boots. In the summer months, this place also draws big-name entertainers on its outdoor stage.

Seeing one of my favorite bands at this place is on my Montana bucket list. The venue is not large; a few hundred tickets, at most. I peaked around the last time I visited the place on a quiet spring afternoon. Many acts are no cover and you might be surprised who's played this stage in recent summers.

And dozens more. Genres of live music at the Old Saloon stage vary, from Country to Blues, Classic Rock, Red Dirt bands, local jam bands, and more. Some big-name acts have already been announced for 2024.
