If you're a fan of Hank Williams Jr., you probably know that he loves Montana. He's owned property in the state for a long time. He's even written quite a few songs about Montana.
In 1989, Hank Williams Jr. Full Access was released on VHS. In the video, Hank Williams Jr. says that his ranch on the Idaho/Montana border is "probably the place that I love more than anywhere in the world."
In the grainy YouTube video taken from a VHS tape, Hank Williams Jr. gives us a glimpse into his life in Montana and explains why he loves it here so much. The video is filmed near a ranch that he once owned in the Big Hole Valley.
My romance with Montana started in books, history, and school. I think we had a show in Butte, Montana in 1966 or 67. I was about 17 or 18 years old then, and I had a friend in Nashville that told me about this buddy of his up in a place called Big Hole where they had been hunting and fishing at his ranch. I came up and saw him, and we drove around a saw elk and moose, and that's when a teenage Hank Williams Jr. knew that Montana was going to be the place for him.
said Williams Jr.
Later in the video, Hank Williams talks about the time he was nearly killed in a mountain climbing accident on August 8, 1975. He reportedly fell over 500 feet and says he was lucky to survive.
