Montana’s Glacier National Park Sets New Rules For Summer Visits
One of the most beautiful parts of Montana is Glacier National Park.
While Yellowstone is the nations oldest National Park, and is filled with wildlife and geo-thermal properties that are something to behold, Glacier, in my opinion is far more stunning. One of the highlights of Glacier is Going-To-The-Sun-Road and with the new year, comes new changes.

If you've never been on the road, it is incredible. The scenery is stunning, and I would suggest that you might want to do a tour bus so you can enjoy all there is to see.
The road itself is 50 miles long and took 12 years to complete. It is considered one of the hardest roads to plow and can take up to 10 weeks, as up to 80 feet of snow has been reported to fall over the area. Because of this, the road is only open for a few months each year.
Glacier Park Changes for 2026
Prior to 2026, if you planned on traveling the road you would a vehicle reservation, but those are being replaced by a new ticketed shuttle system and a 3 hour parking limit for private vehicles at Logan Pass starting on July 1st. It has been noted that for those who would like to hike or explore the area around Logan Pass, a shuttle pass is the route to go.
So, what do all of the changes mean for visitors? You will no longer need a reservation for the road, but you will need a Park Pass. Construction is also something to look out for, especially around Many Glacier where the majority of the work is taking place.

Admission into the Glacier National Park is 35 dollars per vehicle for US Residents and 100 dollars per vehicle for Non-US residents.
