There is one place in Montana that is arguably more special than any other location in the state, and honestly, the country. I mean, its nickname is the Crown of the Continent. Glacier National Park has captivated people’s hearts with its breathtaking views, alpine lakes, and dramatic peaks. Naturally, because of its undeniable beauty, it’s become a hotbed for weddings.

Couples from all over are hoping for that secluded, Narnia-like backdrop of the mountains. But how popular is Glacier for weddings, reallyWell, I recently came across a social post that showed just how crazy it can get. In a video by @awaywejones, they captured seven brides in the same location. Seclusion? Not exactly. More like a bridal convention with a killer view.

The park doesn’t release official numbers on wedding permits, but here’s what I uncovered: one photography business alone averages around 150 weddings or elopements each year in Glacier. And that’s just one company. Multiply that by the handful of other photographers working the park and, wellyou’re looking at a whole lot of “I do’s” happening under those peaks.

Now, keep in mind, the park actually allows for way more. With 32 designated ceremony locations and a cap of two permits per site per day, the math says there could be over 7,000 weddings in just one summer season. It definitely shows the capacity and the demand.

Glacier Wedding Math:

32 locations × 2 ceremonies/day × 120 days = 7,680 possible ceremonies

So while Glacier might feel like a dream spot for a quiet, tucked-away wedding, just know you’ll be sharing that crown jewel with plenty of other couples chasing the same fairytale backdrop.
