Do Montanans Think The Super Bowl Should Be A National Holiday?
Here we are, the day after. Of course, I'm referring to the day after the Super Bowl. By the way, congrats to the LA Rams, not who I was cheering for, but nonetheless, they pulled it off.
Many Montanans got together yesterday and ate and drank, watched some football, then ate and drank some more. More than a few of us woke up today to either a hangover, indigestion or both. For years we've been told that today is the day most people call in sick all year long. Oh, and for those that do show up, let's just say they don't give it their best effort.
So, what should we do about that? Luckily, I have a suggestion.
I propose that we make the Monday after the Super Bowl a National Holiday. I realize I'm not the first person with this idea, but I think it's time we start getting serious about this. I mean, what's more American than the Super Bowl? Ok, well the Fourth of July, but we already have that off.
I've also heard it suggested that maybe we should play the Super Bowl on Saturday. Umm. No. First, it's tradition for the game to be on Sunday. Hence the term "Super Bowl Sunday". Duh. Second, if we were to move the Super Bowl to Saturday, there would be no need for a three-day weekend. The whole purpose of this proposal is to get an extra day off.
So, would you support the Monday after the Super Bowl being a National Holiday? I asked the question on Social Media and to my surprise, a whole lot of Montanans said "No".
In fact, it was about a 50 percent split between the "Nay's" and "Yay's"
The most popular suggestion? Move the game to Saturday. Ugh. We already went over that above. I can't be the only one that thinks an extra three-day weekend is a good idea, can I? While not the only one, it seems the idea is right down the middle when it comes to other Montanans.
