Devastating Floods Have Slashed The Prices For This. What is it?

As rushing rivers take over Montana during the busiest part of tourist season, what does that mean for car rentals, flights, and hotels?

During the first two weeks of June, rental cars were rented for about $250-$260 per day. As we all know, the devastating floods have put a damper on plans to visit Yellowstone National Park, at least for now.

I was on a flight back home to Montana on Monday evening, flying Minneapolis to Bozeman, and the flight was FULL of people coming to visit YNP. I showed them the videos and explained that they wouldn't be going for a while.

Out of curiosity, I went to TRAVELOCITY.COM and looked to see if the price of rental cars had decreased and what availability was like, so I could compare current numbers to previous ones. Here is what I found:

A midsize car through ALAMO is available for $126 per day

A standard-size car through ENTERPRISE is available for $142 per day

A full-size through NATIONAL is waiting for you to rent for $195 per day

A full-size pickup through ENTERPRISE for $240 per day

A standard elite van through ENTERPRISE  for $252 per day

A compact SUV through HERTZ is over $550 per day.

The prices have been cut in half, if not more. Makes sense; with people canceling trips to Yellowstone National Park, what else will we see with this loss of tourism? Will hotel prices go down as well? Time will tell.
