Today is National Tooth Fairy Day, which reminded me of a recent experience I had.

A couple of months back, after my dad passed away, my brother and I were going through the family home to get it ready to sell.  My mother was a bit of a hoarder and after she died, my dad just never got rid of anything.

We were going through some personal belongings deciding what to keep and what to get rid of when we came across some teeth. Now, I don't know if they were my brother's or mine, but they were certainly not adult teeth, and I'm assuming they were one of ours.

Of course, that got me thinking back to being a kid and the excitement of losing a tooth, knowing that the Tooth Fairy would make an appearance that night.

My memory is a little foggy, but if I recall correctly, I believe the Tooth Fairy was paying 50 cents a tooth back when I was a kid. So, what's the going rate for Montana kids today? How much is the Tooth Fairy paying per tooth in 2022?

According to the Dental Care Alliance, more than 50 cents a tooth.

Looks like kids in Montana can expect about 3.22 a tooth, which is a little lower than the national average of 4.57 and a heck of a lot lower than the 8.91 kids are getting in Delaware.  However, Montana kids are still banking more than kids in Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Washington.

Plus, that's per tooth, right?  I mean, over the course of a few years, you can come up with a chunk of change. Oh, and whatever you do, don't forget to brush twice a day.
