A new television show on ABC has rubbed a lot of Montanans the wrong way. Big Sky premiered on November 24, and is full of over the top storylines.

The first episode starts in so-called Helena, Montana. First, anyone who has ever been in Helena knows that the town in the show is not Helena. In fact, the town is somewhere in California.

The show also features a semi truck driver that kidnaps a prostitute from a truck stop. After which, he ties her up and puts her in the back of the truck trailer. Later in the show, the long haul driver kidnaps two young girls stranded on the side of the highway. Apparently, the two had to detour off of Interstate 90 and ended up near Yankee Jim Canyon, just north of Yellowstone National Park.

There's just one thing, while watching the show, it's obvious that the two girls are no where near Yankee Jim Canyon. In fact, they're not even in Montana. It seems that the shows writers have never actually been to Montana. Even though Big Sky features well known actors like Ryan Phillippe, it's still frustrating to see what producers in Hollywood think Montana is like.

If you were hoping to get a glimpse of life in Montana on ABC's Big Sky, you'll most likely be disappointed. Hopefully the show gets better, but the first episode really missed the mark in my opinion. Last time I checked, Montana wasn't full of sex trafficking long haul truck drivers, and crooked Montana Highway Patrol officers. In my opinion, it paints Montana in an unflattering light and proves that people in Hollywood don't know much about Montana.

Big Sky airs Tuesday on ABC at 9:00 p.m.
