Who doesn't love a great sandwich? I mean, you've got bread, meat, cheese, sauce...plus there are so many options and combinations that you can create.
Here in Montana, you'll find some pretty impressive sandwich spots. From the national chains to more Montana-based places like The Pickle Barrel and Tagliare Deliecatessen, you will surely find something that you love.

I bring this up because the folks over at Cheapism put together a list of the Best Sandwiches Invented In Every State. Looking over the list, there's some impressive culinary creations.

So, which sandwich made the list for Montana? I'm guessing that most people won't have a tough time figuring it out, but my question is, should it be? Before we reveal the sandwich that tops the list for Montana, let's look at some of our favorite Montana dining spots that are no longer around.

Which sandwich invented in Montana made the list of the "Best Sandwiches"?
If you said the "Porkchop Sandwich," you were right. The Porkchop Sandwich might be one of Montana's greatest gifts to the culinary world. While folks will argue over where to get the best one, when it comes to the most famous venue, that would go to "Porkchop John's" in Butte.
But is that the best sandwich invented in Montana?
Before it closed during the pandemic, there was another popular location in Butte that was known as "the home of the Nut Burger". Matt's Drive-In, as mentioned above, was not only a popular place for decades but was also thought to be the first drive-in in Montana. Matt's was known for a few different items, including the famous Nut Burger.
If you're new to Montana, you might not be familiar with the Nut Burger. So here's a quick rundown. It's a burger that is topped with a spread of both chopped peanuts and mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.
