MSU has issued an alert after campus police responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery in Gallatin Hall, a residence hall on campus, early Wednesday morning.

Dispatchers were informed around 1:30 a.m. of several males wrestling over a black handgun.  The alert does not indicate who or what they were attempting to rob.

According to the alert, the reporting party told dispatchers that they heard a scuffle outside their room and went out to find several males wrestling over a black handgun. The assailant then fled out a rear door, along with two others who were also present.

The three alleged robbers were last seen leaving Gallatin Hall in a red Dodge Ram truck. As of 8:49 a.m. when the alert was issued the suspected were still at large.

MSU advises students and those on campus to remember to lock their residence doors and to avoid traveling alone.
