Big News: Amazon Cuts the Ribbon in Belgrade, Montana
These days, we're all guilty of ordering off Amazon—especially here in Montana, where a quick trip to the store might actually mean a two-hour drive just to grab a toaster.
Well, big news: Amazon just got a whole lot more local. As of Friday, April 18th, the brand-new Amazon facility in Belgrade, Montana, officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. That means faster shipping, more local jobs, and one less excuse to drive to Bozeman for basics.
Of course all the big wigs in Montana where there for the event including Governor Gianforte. Who said...
"This facility will create more opportunities for Montanans, support small businesses, and strengthen local economies in the Gallatin Valley and beyond. I'm proud to welcome Amazon's continued growth in our state and look forward to more partnerships like this one that create opportunities for Montanans." - Governor Gianforte
The new warehouse is 50,000 square feet and is Amazon's newest investment of $27 million. Its considered a "last-mile" delivery service, which means they receive packages from larger regional centers and then the packages in Belgrade go out for final delivery to customers in a 50 mile radius.
This will be the third Amazon facility in Montana. The others are in Missoula and Billings.
Amazon says they've added about $80 million to Montana's GDP and created around 500 full and part-time jobs as of January last year. On top of that, another 400 indirect jobs have been supported thanks to their presence here in the state.

So whether you're excited about faster shipping or a little wary of big changes moving into small towns (as many Montanans are), there's no denying that Amazon setting up shop here is a big deal.
