What Montana town is the ugliest?
According to the folks over at Buzzfeed, when it comes to the ugliest cities in the country, one Montana town makes the list.
While locals might have their own opinions, I'm not sure a lot of people will be shocked to find out that Butte made the list. Ranked as the 18th ugliest city in America, Butte has a rough reputation, but maybe folks don't know Butte's history.
You would be hard-pressed to find another town more vital in the early 20th century than Butte. With reports of the city supplying up to a 1/3 of the world's copper supply, its easy to see just how important this Montana town was.
Butte was once a thriving city with streets made of granite. A modern-day tour and you learn quickly the importance of not only the state of Montana, but for the nation itself. It's safe to say that the country and the world wouldn't be where it is today if it weren't for the city of Butte and its residents.
Known for its toughness and deep Irish roots, Butte still has a lot of life left in it. So, maybe some of these national publications should talk about everything Butte has sacrificed to make America what it is.
