Where Do Bozeman Rent Prices Rank Compared To Big Cities?

If you've driven around Bozeman in the last several months, you've certainly noticed all the construction that is happening around town.  Much of the construction is new apartments, in fact, hundreds and hundreds of new apartments are being built around the city, and one would think that would result in lower rent prices.

So far, many renters in Bozeman say that hasn't been the case.  Even though there are many units available throughout the city, rent prices continue to increase which has some folks scratching their heads.

While renters continue to complain about the high prices, where does Bozeman rank when it comes to some of the more expensive cities in America?

For our purposes, we'll focus on 2-bedroom apartments.  According to Zumper, the average price of a two-bedroom apartment in Bozeman is 2000 dollars a month with a median household income of 70 thousand a year. So, how does that compare to bigger cities?  We'll take a look at the following cities to compare.

• Denver-average price for a 2-bedroom apartment is 2390 a month. The average median household income is 78 thousand a year.
• Dallas-average price of a 2-bedroom apartment is 2019 a month. The average median household income is 58 thousand a year.
• Los Angeles-average price of a 2-bedroom apartment is 2900 a month. The average median household income is 77 thousand a year.
• Chicago-average price of a 2-bedroom apartment is 2675 a month. The average median household income is 66 thousand a year.
• Seattle-average price of a 2-bedroom apartment is 2752 a month. The average median household income is 111 thousand a year.
• New York City-average price of a 2-bedroom apartment is 4500 hundred a month. The average median household income is 75 thousand a year.

When you compare all of these factors, it looks like maybe people in Bozeman don't have such a bad deal after all. In fact, other than Seattle, it looks like all of the other locations on the list have it worse than we do.

Granted, the bigger cities have more options as far as social life, dining, and other things, but when you compare the cost of rent to the median income, I'm not sure that you would have a whole lot of extra money to partake in those extra activities.
