Hyalite Reservoir is a favorite for locals and visitors, unfortunately you need to be advised that it is not safe at this time.

The Gallatin County Health Department released the following statement via their official Facebook Page:

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are present at the boat launch area at Hyalite Reservoir and at the Elk Grove Park Pond in the Elk Grove subdivision south of Four Corners. Ingestion or prolonged contact with the algal bloom may result in illness, with signs such as muscle twitching, staggering, convulsions, paralysis and death. Importantly, children and pets are more likely to ingest HAB infested waters because they spend most of their time wading in the shallow waters where algae can accumulate, and they have less control over how much water they ingest. We encourage recreationists to exercise caution to avoid an algal bloom that could potentially produce toxins that pose a risk to people, pets, and livestock.- Gallatin County Health Department

Summers are fun because we have nice weather, and after a long winter it is nice to get out and enjoy the local lakes, streams, and trails. Unfortunately, summer also brings situations like algae.
Keep your family, pets, and friends safe and either follow GALLATIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT, for any and all details regarding algae and other heath concerns.
