The Fun Never Stops: Night Skiing in Montana
Montana is one of the most popular ski destinations in the country, and it's pretty apparent why with its phenomenal powder and giant mountains. I mean, come on ... even the word "Montana" is a Latin adjective that means "mountainous".
Skiers and outdoor adventures look forward to taking advantage of everything Montana offers from the winter slopes during the day. But what about those not ready to hang their hat when the sun goes down? What if the bar scene is not your cup of tea or you're not ready to wind down with a warm mug of hot chocolate by the fire?
Well... there are a few select spots that keep the outdoor adventures rolling into the night.
Night skiing is the perfect answer for anyone who simply can't get enough of the daytime snow pow.
Where can I night ski in Montana?
#1 Big Sky I've personally skied here and not gonna lie... after testing out their fancy new 8-person heated blue bubble chairlift. 10 out of 10, highly recommend this first-class / "pinky up" mountain experience.
Starting December 14 - February 18 from 6-8 pm and in the late season from February 19 - March 30th, 7 - 9 p.m., Big Sky will offer "Headlamp Night Skiing." This is a guided experience with the opportunity to explore Andesite Mountain under the stars.
There are a few things to take note of before booking your trip. It's available to all ages as long as you are a level 6 skier or snowboarder, and a group of 7 is going to cost $550. Not bad if you split it between 6 of your closest adventure amigos!
If That breaks the bank for ya or you want to go solo, we've got you covered.
#2 Great Divide The Great Divide is a short 35-minute drive northwest of Helana and offers some of the most affordable night skiing in the state. For "Nights Under the Lights," Friday from 4-9 pm, chair lift tickets are just $15 bucks. Combining that with their live music events happening simultaneously sounds like a perfect way to spend a winter Friday night.
#3 Whitefish I can't mention skiing in Montana without adding Whitefish Ski Resort to the list.
They offer night skiing on Fridays and Saturdays during "much" of the winter season, and times vary. So be sure to give them a call before heading to the border of Canada. Lift tickets for Ages 7+ are $32, ages 6 and younger are free, and you're already covered if you are a pass holder. You will have a combination of stadium lights and stars to light your epic night runs.
