Montana’s Most Popular City Ranked The Poorest?
If you're thinking about moving to Montana, or if you are already a resident, and you are thinking about moving to another town, some places are better than others. If you're planning on calling the 406 home, you want to make sure that you're in a place that 1. you want to be and 2. you can afford.
I've called Montana home for years now, and I've lived in two of the more popular towns in the state.
When I first moved to Montana, I settled in Missoula. It was a lovely town, nice people, great downtown, decent restaurants, and sub-par football, but I enjoyed my time there for the most part.

My second go around in Big Sky Country landed me in Bozeman.
I realize that Bozeman is one of the most popular towns in the country, and for a time, the fastest-growing town. People from all over want to come here and just...be. Maybe they will be a 2nd or 3rd home. Maybe they will do some skiing. Maybe they will open up a business that will then be open 3 hours a day, Monday, Tuesday, and sometimes on Thursday.
My wife and I live in the same apartment complex here in town that we moved into when we came to town. Why do we live in an apartment complex as middle-aged people? Well, because we can't afford a home? Why? Well, because Bozeman is the poorest city in the state.
What?? Wait, did I just say that Bozeman was the poorest city in the state? I did, and according to the folks over at Stacker, it is.
Yep, our friends over at Stacker decided to list the poorest cities in Montana, and Bozeman topped the list. However, Bozeman isn't alone; other towns that made the list of the poorest are Butte, Great Falls, and Helena.
Why is Bozeman the poorest city in Montana?
According to the data, almost 20 percent of the population of the town is living below the line of poverty line. We know all the numbers and what it takes to afford a home in Bozeman, and the truth is that a lot of the population simply can't afford it.
But doesn't Bozeman continue to grow?

It does, and they are continuing to build apartments and townhomes, and all kinds of buildings that are still priced beyond what many can pay. In fact, several large construction projects are in the works that will see the city expand, but the question is, will the people already here be able to make ends meet?
