
New Study Shows How Stressed Montanans Really Are
There is a lot happening in the world these days, and it feels like stress is coming from every direction. Stress is nothing new, it is just part of life. Still, people love to throw out advice like “just relax,” which is easier said than done.

With April recognized as Stress Awareness Month, a new report from WalletHub takes a closer look at where Americans are feeling it the most. The study ranks all 50 states based on 40 different factors tied to stress. That includes things like average work hours, financial struggles, sleep habits, and even overall health and safety.
Some states are clearly feeling the pressure more than others. Louisiana, Kentucky, and New Mexico landed at the top of the list as the most stressed states in the country. On the other end, South Dakota, Utah, and Minnesota ranked among the least stressed places to live.

So where does Montana fall? Closer in the middle. Big Sky Country came in at number 19 overall, which suggests things could be better, but also a lot worse.

Breaking it down further, Montana ranked pretty well when it comes to work related stress, landing near the bottom of that category. But financial pressure is a different story, with the state placing in the top 10 for money related stress. Family and health factors landed closer to the middle at 22nd.

Experts say some of the biggest stress drivers over the past year include concerns about the economy, job stability, and the overall direction of the country. On top of that, many people report feeling more disconnected and in need of support. Not exactly relaxing, but at least now we know where we stand.
