Now, here’s the twist. While Montana is the star on film, many of those “Montana” scenes are actually filmed in… Canada. Yep, even though shows like Yellowstone did shoot scenes here, a surprising number of productions head north of the border to get their version of Montana. Go figure.

Recently, a TikToker put together a list of the best movies set in each state—keyword: set. So while movie buffs may know that it wasn’t filmed here, Montana’s pick was Legends of the Fall.

Honestly? It’s one of my personal favorites. Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinntangled family drama, wild love triangle—all set against a stunning Montana backdrop (or at least made to look that way). It’s one of those films you can watch again and again.
