Who’s Ready For The 4th Of July Fun In Montana?
It's that time of the year when folks will start to complain about all of the fireworks going off across the state of Montana.
With the 4th of July just around the corner, people will be getting their 'Merica!' on by launching things into the air. When I was a kid, this was something we looked forward to for weeks. I remember it was one of the only times of the year that I would volunteer to do chores in hopes that I would make money to buy fireworks.
As you drive around Big Sky Country, you'll see all of the fireworks stands and the different deals you can take advantage of. It really is a special time.

Bottle Rockets were my firework of choice; my friends and I would do all kinds of crazy things that I won't mention here, as not to influence the younger generation. (although we all survived, and other than a few scares, had a great time)
It's funny how age changes you.
In my younger years, I was all about the party. The longer it lasted and the louder it was, the better. As someone now middle-aged and who wakes up at 3:50 in the morning, I'm all about peace and quiet.
Soon, Social Media sites will be filled with people complaining on both sides. Folks will be reminding people to remember those with PTSD and those who have animals that are sensitive to loud noises. On the other hand, there will be people telling those people to get over it and loosen up a little.
The truth is, there has to be some compromise between being a total Karen and partying like it's 1776.
Yes, many of our vets suffer from PTSD, so maybe don't shoot off fireworks in the city limits (which is illegal in most Montana towns). However, if you do own a pet who is sensitive, you should probably have a plan in place to make them comfortable.
I, for one, am ok with folks getting a little rowdy on the 4th. Heck, I'm ok with them getting a little rowdy on the 3rd and the 5th. It's when it turns into a week-long celebration that sounds like Iran Vs Israel out my backdoor that my patience wears a bit thin.

In the end, everyone should have a good time, be safe, celebrate our country, and be respectful to those around them. I mean, come on, we live in the greatest state in the greatest country in the world.
