The holiday season is my favorite time of year. I love everything about the holidays. I love the food, the decorations, the music, the lights, the presents, all of it. Of course, the holidays can get a little hectic in Montana and in many cases, a little expensive.

As a kid, I couldn't wait for the holiday catalogs to come in the mail. We would get catalogs from Sears, JCPenney, and Montgomery Wards. For several weeks, my daily routine was to wake up, go to school, come home, and look through the catalogs.

My list to Santa changed regularly. I was so dedicated that I had page numbers memorized.

How much can Montanans expect to spend this holiday season?

According to facts and figures from WalletHub when it comes to holiday spending, Montanans can expect to fork out around 1300 dollars for the holidays. Now, you might be asking how we came to that conclusion.

According to the data, folks in Billings spend around 1000 on average while folks in Missoula spend around 1600. So, if you meet in the middle, we're talking 1300 bucks.

I have no idea what Santa and my parents spent when I was a kid, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't anywhere near 1300 dollars. I remember one year I begged Santa and my parents to bring me an Atari (I was an 80s kid) and my parents told me that the Elfs were on strike at the Atari factory.

I have no idea what the rage is these days. I see kids walking around glued to their screens, so I'm guessing electronics are a big deal.

Whatever ends up under the Christmas Tree this year, I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and make memories that will last long after you pay off those credit cards.
