Lee Brice Postpones Oklahoma Concert Due to Weather
Lee Brice has become country music's latest victim of Winter Storm Jonas. The singer-songwriter has postponed a show in Oklahoma because his buses are unable to leave Nashville.
Brice was slated to perform at the FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla. on Saturday evening (Jan, 23). In a post to Twitter on Friday (Jan. 22), he let fans know that there was simply no way he and his band would be able to keep the date, writing, "Buses won't make it out of the lot."
According to Thomson Reuters news service, more than 85 million people in 20 states have been affected by the severe winter weather that has swept across the country, leaving as much as two feet of snow in certain areas. Nashville's WKRN news reports the fast-moving weather system "crippled the area" on Friday, and "the highway looked more like a parking lot for nearly five hours" after a semi jackknifed on Interstate 40.
Brice promised to make up the date to his fans via Twitter. A post to FireLake Arena's Facebook page indicated that a new show date is in the works. Ticket holders will be notified of the rescheduled date via email and social media updates. Tickets will be valid for the new show date.
Brad Paisley and Garth Brooks are among the other artists who've seen their schedules impacted by the winter weather. Paisley postponed a concert in Kentucky, citing safety concerns, while Brooks has rescheduled his shows that were scheduled for Friday (Jan. 22) and Saturday (Jan. 23) in Baltimore.
