The Millie Fire, burning about 20 miles south of Bozeman on the Gallatin National Forest, is estimated to be 9,500 acres with 0 percent containment.

An Informational Meeting will be held tonight at 6pm (Aug 31) at the Hope Lutheran Church, 2152 W. Graf St. in Bozeman.

Today’s efforts have focused on building direct line and mopup in the Blanchard Ranch inholding area. On the north-northwest portion efforts will focus on using existing roads and dozer work to keep the fire from advancing into the Smith Creek drainage.
Fire managers have also beeen making plans and scouting line building in the Cottonwood and Hyalite drainages today.
Additional resources, handcrews and air assets are on order and will be put to work as they become available.
The public is reminded that there will be an increase in fire traffic on roads in the area and as the holiday weekend approaches to use caution when driving.
