Montana Attractions

We have quite a few things to check out in Montana.

Attractions can come in many forms.

Some people think amusement parks, sports teams, or oceanside carnivals are attractions, but Montana doesn't have any of that.

What does Montana have?

We have national parks, caves, and museums. Those are still fantastic places to check out.

Montana has unique places, like the Garden of 1000 Buddhas and the Berkeley Pit, that you won't see anywhere else.

Most of Montana's attractions have been around for decades or centuries, but what is Montana's oldest attraction?

We might have an answer, but it could be debatable.

Montana's Oldest Attraction

Montana has been a state for almost 140 years.

Many of Montana's attractions have been around or established for as long as we have had statehood.

What's Montana's oldest attraction?

A town.

Reader's Digest believes Stevensville is Montana's oldest attraction.

Reader's Digest picked Stevensville because it settled in 1841, several decades before Montana's statehood.

It still has a few of the original buildings around town.

You can see where Montana got their official start. Can you count a town as an attraction?

That seems like cheating.

There are so many other old attractions in Montana to pick from.

If you went the natural scenery route, you could pick Flathead Lake or the Chinese Wall in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

You could also go with the underground cities in Butte and Havre.

The oldest bar in Montana, the Bale of Hay Saloon, has been around since the 1860s.
