My wife and I recently had the opportunity to spend time with one of my childhood friends and her husband. It was the first time they had been to Bozeman, so we wanted to make sure and roll out the red carpet.

We did many of the touristy things, such as visiting Yellowstone National Park and the Museum of the Rockies. We floated the Madison River or attempted to (our tubes both had holes in them, which we discovered after already being on the river)

We also hit some of the popular dining spots like Stormcastle Cafe, The Western, and Mark's In & Out. In the end, my friends were very impressed with Bozeman and the surrounding area, and apparently, they're not the only ones.

According to the social site Towners, Bozeman scores pretty well on a few different categories. Before we take a look at the "report card", let's check out some of the best places in Montana to call home.

Next is the aesthetic. There's no doubt that we have some stunning views in and around town, plus we have a nice mix of old and new with a combination of modern and rustic. Aesthetic score. 9/10

Third on the list is Entertainment. Who doesn't love cheering for the Bobcats? Or maybe you want to hang out downtown and have a drink or two. While there is plenty to do and see, does it fit in the entertainment category?  This wasn't the town's strongest selling point. Entertainment score. 6.5/10

Next up, affordability. Unless you live under a rock, you know this isn't going to go well. Out of all the categories, this is the one that we took the biggest hit on. Affordability. 5/10

Fourth is things to do. As mentioned above, there is plenty to do and see. Bozeman is an outdoor paradise, and it doesn't matter the time of year; you can always find something to do around town. Things to do. 9.5/10

Finally, culture. Bozeman is filled with folks from all over the spectrum. Cowboys, cowgirls, hippies, hipsters, yuppies, you name it, you can find it in Bozeman. Culture. 8.5/10

The total score? 46 out of 60.
