Hunter Hayes is attempting to place himself in the Guinness Book of World Records -- and it's for a great cause.

The multi-Grammy nominee is trying to break the record for most concerts played in 24 hours -- in multiple cities. That would be quite a feat for the 22-year-old! He's not going at it alone, he's teaming up with ConAgra Foods and they're all trying to combat child hunger.

The record is currently being held by the Flaming Lips, who played eight shows in 24 hours. Before that, rapper Jay-Z held the record. Hayes is going above and beyond the eight-show record and has 10 shows scheduled during the 24-hour period.

Hayes told the New York Times that he “was astonished by the statistics” of child hunger in America. He couldn't believe that one in five children “aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. Awareness is key with something like this, but just as important is that everyone can pitch in to make this story a better story -- and how easy it is for us to help” (quote via a release).

The record attempt begins on 'Good Morning America' in New York City at 8AM on May 9. He'll then travel up and down the east coast, finishing at 5AM in Philadelphia, Pa. The coffee-lover will need plenty of java to get through it all.

Hayes has been working on Child Hunger Ends Here with ConAgra Foods since 2012, and Child Hunger Ends Here is wanting to break their own record while Hayes breaks the Guinness record. They're striving to break their record for the most meals donated in a 24-hour time period. On specially marked ConAgra products, you'll see a red pushpin and a code. Enter the code at the Child Hunger Ends Here website and they'll donate one meal to Feeding America.
