Montana has its fair share of "Legends" and "Folklore"

For years, folks have claimed that Bigfoot has called Montana home. Don't get me wrong, I want to believe that Bigfoot is real, and if he OR she were, it certainly seems like Montana would be the perfect residence. I mean, think about it. Bigfoot could live in "The Bob", and no one would have a clue.

Of course, Bigfoot isn't the only legend that folks talk about in Montana.

First, there is the story of the "Mystery Hitchhiker" in Cascade County. The Blackhorse Lake Hitchhiker is a tale that's been told for decades. This ghostly character is always spotted on Highway 87, and the story goes that you see him right as you hit him with your car.

Folks then claim that after they pull over, there is no one to be found, nor is there any damage to their vehicle. So what does this mystery man look like? Several accounts claim that he is a man of Native American heritage with long black hair, wearing jeans and a t-shirt

That's not the only Montana Legend.

You've no doubt heard of the Lockness Monster in Scotland, but have you ever heard of the Flathead Monster? The story goes that the biggest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi has a secret of its own.

The "monster" was first seen back in 1889 by Captain James C. Kerr. Much like the Lockness Monster, it is believed that the Flathead Monster is some sort of large creature that could date back to prehistoric times.

It seems that the legend continues, as there are at least two sightings each year of the Flathead Monster, and before you completely dismiss the idea, keep in mind that a huge sturgeon weighing over 200 pounds and over 8 feet long was pulled from the lake decades ago.
