A Crafting Catastrophe: JoAnn Stores Are Closing Nationwide
If you're a die-hard crafter in Montana, this news is sew not good. In fact, it’s a full-blown craft-astrophe. News broke about locations closing in Montana earlier this month, but the Bozeman location was to be spared. But now it’s official—all JoAnn stores nationwide are shutting their doors for good.
Which JoAnn Locations Are Closing?
All of them!

Goodbye, JoAnn
The beloved crafting chain that has been open for roughly 80 years initially announced on February 12 that it would be closing 500 of its 800 stores. That news alone had people scrambling to stock up on supplies. But on February 24, JoAnn corporate dropped the real bombshell—all locations are closing, and the company is filing for bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year.
Why Is JoAnn Closing?
JoAnn first filed for bankruptcy in March 2024, and now, less than a year later, they’re back in the red. The issue? Slow sales and unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer to take over the brand. With no rescue plan in sight, JoAnn is calling it quits.
The (Only) Good News
If there’s one silver lining, it’s the massive going-out-of-business sale that’s about to kick off. We don't know exactly when the SALE will begin, but it is expected to be ASAP. Expect big discounts as the company tries to recoup losses. With limited craft supply options in Bozeman and across Montana, you might want to stock up while you can.
Also, if you’ve got a JoAnn gift card, don’t wait—the final day to use them is February 28!
