Montana’s Friendliest Small Towns
I've lived in a lot of different places so far in my life—including seven different states—and I've traveled to Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe. In all that time, I've had amazing experiences and a few not-so-great ones… but that's just part of the journey.
Out of everywhere I've been, Montana stands out as my absolute favorite place in the world and that's not a coincidence. It's not just the landscape (though let's be honest, it's incredible), it's the people. The kind of people who wave when they drive past you on a dirt road. The kind of people who will stop and help you change a tire in the middle of nowhere without thinking twice.
When I first moved here, I was warned that as a "transplant," most Montanans might tell me to pack up and head back to wherever I came from. But I haven't experienced that at all. I think it helps that I deeply respect the culture and values here. I love the old Montana—the one that's gritty, genuine, and rooted in community—and I have no interest in changing it.

Where Are The Friendliest Towns In Montana?
Because of my overwhelmingly positive experience, I was curious to see if others felt the same. That's why an article by WorldAtlas.com caught my eye: "10 Most Welcoming Towns in Montana's Countryside." Here is the list that they put together:
- Polson
- Whitefish
- Choteau
- Anaconda
- West Yellowstone
- Helena
- Red Lodge
- Butte
- Hamilton
- Fort Benton
So what do you think? Have you had a different experience in any of these towns? Did they leave a place off the list that you believe deserves a spot? Let's us know HERE.
