Fall in Montana isn’t just about layering up in flannels and trying all the pumpkin spice lattes in town. There's lots of activities to hit up in Big Sky Country like mazes, hay rides, and the occasional haunted prison. So, if you’re ready to trade your hiking boots for something a little more festive, here are three can’t-miss fall adventures in Montana.

#1 The Bozeman Maze

A Gallatin County tradition that’s been confusing and a fall favorite for locals for years. The Bozeman Maze is officially open through November 2nd! There’s a straw bale maze, mini train, hayrides, pumpkins, and enough photo ops to fill your camera roll. Bonus: concert night on October 11th! Whether you’re chasing your kids through the kid’s maze or trying to prove you can solve the puzzle faster than your friends, this is worth checking out.

#2 Montana Corn Maze

The Montana Corn Maze has six acres to find your way through and three different levels of difficulty. Along with the main maze, you’ll find farm animals, wagon rides, a farmer’s market, mini-golf, and even an adult trike track through the corn. (Because who doesn’t want to pedal like a kid again while trying not to get lost?)

#3 Terror in the Cellhouse

For those who like their fall fun with a side of nightmares, head to the Old Montana Prison in Deer Lodge. “Terror in the Cellhouse” returns this year, bigger and scarier than before, literally, with 250 more feet of fear. Expect blood-curdling screams, twisted animatronics, and an experience that will test your nerves and your bladder.

This Family Friendly "Montana Town" Is Frozen In Time

One of the coolest places to check out in Montana is the "Old Montana" town of Nevada City. Located just on the other side of Virginia City, Nevada City is the perfect example of what life was like back during the gold rush in the 1800s.

With several different buildings to tour and friendly folks to guide you through your visit, as well as tell you the stories of the times, Nevada City is not only educational but fun for the whole family.
