Confirmed: Justin Timberlake Collaborating With Chris Stapleton on New Album
Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton will pair up once again on the pop star's new Man of the Woods album.
A press release detailing what to expect from Timberlake's project confirms a long-suspected collaboration, which the star later confirmed is called "Say Something." Timberlake and Stapleton were friends long before they teamed up for the 2015 CMA Awards — a career-defining night for Stapleton that instantly turned him into a coveted headliner. Since then they've shared the stage on at least one occasion, at Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival in Tennessee in September 2017.
News of the country singer's appearance on Timberlake's new album supports theories that Man of the Woods will have a country feel, at least a little bit. For years Timberlake has been expressing a desire to work within the format, flatly stating in 2013 that he dreams of winning Country Album of the Year at a major awards show.
Five Times Justin Timberlake Already Went Country
The imaging around the promotion of the new album is very rural, down to the flannel he's wearing in one half of the album cover.
Other collaborators on Timberlake's new album include Alicia Keys, the Neptunes and producer Timbaland. The 36-year-old Timberlake has said the new project is inspired by where he lives and where he grew up, both in Tennessee. "Filthy" is the name of the first single.
Man of the Woods will be released on Feb. 2, two days before Timberlake headlines the Super Bowl halftime show in Minneapolis.
