Which Montana building is the most iconic?

We mentioned that the most iconic building in the state was located in Helena, so most would assume, I included that we're talking about the Montana State Capitol. The State Capitol has been around for well over 100 years and is certainly something to behold.

However, that's not the most iconic building in the state.

It seems that the most iconic building in Montana is the Cathedral of St. Helena. This impressive structure is a showpiece in the Helena skyline and has been part of the community for decades.

Construction of the Cathedral began in 1908 and was completed in 1914. This beautiful building was designed by A.O. Von Herbulis and was inspired by the Votivkirche in Austria.

The Cathedral has seen its share of hardships over the years, including massive damage following the 1935 Helena earthquake, however, repairs were done and in 1980 the Cathedral was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

For those interested, tours are available and are offered throughout the year. According the the Cathedral website, guided tours are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 1-3 pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
