60 MPH wind gusts will be plaguing the Livingston area and the I-90 corridor through Wednesday evening. Travel may be dangerous at times so extra caution and slower speeds are a must.
Fall. Winter. Fall. Winter. 'Tis the dance Montana generally does through the month of October. High elevations in southwest Montana could see up to 10 inches of fresh snow by Tuesday morning...so I guess that means we're back to winter!
The weather is going to be pretty messy in and around Yellowstone National Park on Monday. Several inches of snow is expected to fall, with up to 6" in the highest elevations surrounding the Park. Driving conditions could deteriorate quickly if you're in the area.
We sort of knew it was coming, right? We knew heavy, wet snow was on the way and most of our trees have not yet lost their leaves. That's a dangerous combination in Montana.
We might have quite a mess on our hands...a Winter Storm Warning (that's the big deal one), is in effect for Gallatin and Madison Counties until Noon on Tuesday. Several inches of snow is expected in the valleys with up to 18" of snow to accumulate in the mountains.
Fall doesn't always last very long around here but whatever time Montana gets, it's usually stunning and packed with colors rarely seen in nature. The Bozeman area wasted no time...when the calendar said "Fall", the area responded.
For many of us, Fall is without a doubt our favorite time of year.. So, I decided to put together a list and asked my friends and loved ones what are the best things about Fall in Montana.
On one hand, I can't think of much that is prettier than snow capped mountain tops. On the other, while I'm over the heat and smoke, I'm not sure I'm ready for winter and everything that comes with that.
Those gusty winds that have erupted out of nowhere the last few days are set to continue through Saturday evening, along with a couple more days of very warm temperatures. Low humidity and wind are wreaking havoc on some of the wildfires burning in Montana.
Fall in Montana is beautiful and while we might not get the massive love that places in the Northeast get, (I'm talking about you Vermont) I wouldn't trade ours for anything. So when I look at this weeks forecast for Bozeman and the surrounding areas, I get a little excited because these cooler temperatures remind me that Fall is just around the corner.
