Alan Jackson, Jon Pardi Bring Nostalgia to ACM Awards With ‘Chattahoochee’
The newcomer and legendary country star teamed up for the special performance as part of a series running throughout the show that honors some of the most significant hits to come out of country music. Pardi welcomed Jackson to the stage by sharing how much he looks up to the star and how his music influenced him growing up. The "Dirt on My Boots" singer held his own next to the legend, singing the hit track like it was his own.
The song's familiar opening notes brought the crowd to its feet — Luke Bryan, Little Big Town and Thomas Rhett were among those singing along to the timeless lyrics while their fellow attendees danced along in the crowd. The song was clearly a walk down memory lane for Rhett, who patted his heart along to the beat, beaming all the while.
Pardi was up for one of the biggest awards of the night for Album of the Year for California Sunrise, along with Little Big Town's The Breaker, Happy Endings from Old Dominion and Rhett's Life Changes, with Chris Stapleton's From A Room: Vol. 1 taking home the prize. Host Reba McEntire delivered even more exciting news revealing that Stapleton's wife Morgane had given birth to twin boys.
Pardi serves as one of country music's breakout stars in 2017, scoring him two No. 1 singles off California Sunrise with "Head Over Boots" and "Dirt on My Boots."
