Have you ever started a show that you get really into and then something happens?  Maybe it's a writer's strike, or they decide to split the season into two parts and there are several months in between.

I ask because I'm having some trouble getting excited about the second half of the final season of Yellowstone.

I admit I was late to the party regarding the popular show set and filmed in Montana. There were already a couple of seasons out before I started watching, however, it didn't take long for me to get hooked.  Not only do I enjoy the dynamics of the Dutton family, but there was some truth to the Montana drama.

When will Yellowstone return?

We know the first of six final episodes will air on November 10th on the Paramount Network. We also know that Kevin Costner has said that he won't return.  So, the question is, what happened to John Dutton?  Does he die? Go away?

When I was growing up the most popular show on TV was Dallas. Much like Yellowstone, it was a drama based around a family where everyone, even the good guys, has a little bad in them.  The main character was J.R. Ewing. I can't imagine Dallas going on without J.R. and I can't imagine Yellowstone without John Dutton.

What about the rest of the characters? Will Rip and Beth live happily ever after? Will Jamie get the last laugh?

As mentioned, some of the "stories" in the series do bleed over to real life. There is a battle between those born in the state versus the transplants who move here. We see the rich out of staters that want to change how things are done, versus those who want to leave well enough alone. For as outrageous as it may be a times, there is enough truth to keep it interesting.

I do not doubt that many Yellowstone fans will tune in to see what happened, but will the final six episodes get the monster numbers that the previous shows did?
