XL Country’s Jesse James Was a Backup Dancer For Maddie & Tae
If you've worked in the radio industry, you've most likely done a lot of crazy things throughout your career. Thanks to my time in radio, I have had many experiences that I will never forget.
Back when Maddie & Tae were first bursting on the country music scene, the radio station that I was working for in Boise, ID hosted an exclusive concert for VIP members. I was the opportunity to see rising stars Maddie & Tae live in concert in an intimate setting.
The duo had just released Girl in a Country Song, which later became their first hit on country radio.
The music video for Girl in a Country Song was hilarious and featured dudes dancing around in daisy dukes and cutoff overalls.
I've always been a bit of a husky fella, and Maddie & Tae asked me if I could be a backup dancer during the performance of their hit song. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity and said yes.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a video of my sweet dance moves, but a Facebook friend recently tagged me in a picture that brought back some hilarious memories.
Yup! That's me in the upper-righthand corner. Here's a closeup if you want a closer look. I was just a baby. My beard is much fuller now.
I'm not gonna lie, I have some pretty sweet moves. I must've made an impression on Maddie & Tae because we reminisced about it when the duo played at the Big Sky Country State Fair a few years ago. For some reason, they never invited me out on tour with them.
