The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for upper elevations near the Bozeman area. The advisory is in effect for Madison, Gallatin and Beaverhead Counties above 6,000 feet from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon.  Not included in the advisory are the cities of Bozeman, Ennis and Dillon.  With this advisory we can expect:

  • Heavy snow above 6,000 feet
  • 8 to 18 inches of snow possible for the mountains
  • 2 to 6 inches of snow possible below 6,000 feet
  • North to northwest winds gusting up to 35 mph
  • Patchy blowing snow
  • Slippery road conditions
  • Cold wind chill temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees possible
  • Low visibility
  • Difficult travel especially for mountain passes
