Who Has The Best Bar-B-Q In Montana? Apparently, That’s Debatable
Growing up just outside of Kansas City, I've had the opportunity to eat some world-class bar-b-q, so having said that, I consider myself pretty qualified when it comes to knowing the good stuff. The truth is, bar-b-q is a whole lot like religion. Everyone has their favorite, and they all think it's better than everyone else's.
Here in Montana, we have some fantastic choices when it comes to one of the most popular foods in the country. From low and slow, to dry rubs and sweet, mustard-based, or vinegar-based sauce, there are several methods and as long as the end result is delicious, tender, smokey meat, you won't hear too many complaints.
So, where can you find the best bar-b-q in Montana? Well, that's where it gets a little tricky because it really comes down to who you ask.
In the last week or two, there have been a couple of different reports out talking about the best place in Montana to bar-b-q and it shouldn't come as a shocker that they're not the same.
Cheapism came out with a list of bar-b-q joints that you have to try and their choice was for a hugely popular place in Missoula, the Notorious P.I.G. But as I mentioned, when it comes to the very best, well...opinions vary.
Insider has come out with the best bar-b-q restaurants in each state according to Yelp, and according to them, the best bar-b-q in Big Sky Country is actually in Big Sky itself. Based on Yelp reviews, Riverhouse BBQ is tops in the Treasure State.
Not only does Riverhouse offer up delicious traditional bar-b-q items like ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, but you will also find smoked tri-tip, which isn't as common as you might think at a bar-b-q joint. Plus, they have great comfort food classics like fried chicken.
