Where Does Montana Rank When It Comes To This? I’m Shocked
I was scrolling through one of the best things ever, the internet. Basically, everything on the internet is true, right? Wallethub did a recent survey that showed who the "greenest" states are and how they rank throughout the United States. Which state is the most "environmentally friendly".
You can see that Montana ranks 22nd on this map which is somewhat disappointing. I feel like we are very eco-friendly here. In fact, one time someone put plastic in the "cans only" garbage (or something like that) at work and there was a sign up regarding it.
People love plants here, they love nature, and they love their state. So how could we be 22nd on the list? Here is the breakdown of how Wallethub comes up with totals.
1. Environmental Quality
2. Eco-Friendly Behaviors
3. Climate-Change Contributions
How can we make Montana more "green"?
Having a good recycling program for one is an easy fix when it comes to contributing. Recycle at home, use the correct public bins, and just do your part.
Tax credits for doing stuff like composting and installing solar panels. This obviously isn't something we can just call our friends and do, but it could be brought up during certain times of the year.
California ranks high when it comes to "green states" because of the state's strict pollution and emissions laws. It apparently pays off for them in the end when it comes to being environmental.
It's almost Earth Day, so let's do our thing and get these numbers up! It starts with the people and then mother nature can be smiling with us.
