Bozeman Local Shares Truth About Urban Campers in New Viral Video
Urban campers have been a growing concern in Bozeman for quite a while, and now a Bozeman native and local business owner has shared his personal experience regarding the issue in a video that's going viral on Facebook.
Dane Fletcher, a former Montana State University football player who played professionally for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers isn't shy when it comes to talking about how urban campers are affecting his Bozeman business and the safety of his customers. Fletcher owns The Pitt Training Facility just north of Baxter Lane in west Bozeman.
In a video shared Wednesday on his personal Facebook page, Fletcher talked about the startling reality that Bozeman residents and business owners are facing due to unchecked urban encampments. The video was shared with the caption;
WAKE UP BOZEMAN
I recently wrote an open letter to urban campers but after watching Fletcher's video, I quickly realized that I didn't take the negative impacts on local businesses and the overall safety of Bozeman residents into consideration. I'll admit, I didn't realize how bad the problem was, but the video really opened my eyes.
People have no clue. I mean, people have no clue and nobody is fighting the fight for Bozeman. Unless we put our foot down as locals, we're going to lose it. I mean, we've half already lost it. I look at this as our last desperate attempt to keep Bozeman Bozeman and get rid of what we've got going on.
said Dane Fletcher, owner of the Pitt Training Facility in Bozeman.

So, what's the solution? We agree that Bozeman residents need to step up and fight to keep Bozeman from becoming a place that isn't safe for people to live and work, and raise a family. You can contact the Bozeman City Commission to share your concerns. Something needs to be done before it's too late.
